Saraswati

In the Hindu Religion Saraswati forms part of the Goddess trinity of Lakshmi, Durga and Saraswati. She is considered as a river Goddess. In recent times, the Goddess has been regarded as the Goddess of knowledge, music and arts. Goddess Saraswati is known as Brahma's consort. The statues of Goddess Saraswati show her as a beautiful, yellow skinned woman. She is dressed in pure white attire and sits on a white lotus. She is dressed in white since it is associated with the purity of knowledge. At times she is also portrayed in yellow since it is the color of mustard flowers that bloom during the time of her festival. Unlike her sister Lakshmi, Saraswati is not heavily adorned with gold and jewels. Saraswati is usually shown as having four arms. A white swan, which is her vehicle, is always present near her feet.
