African Collection:
The African collection sports noteworthy works of wood sculpture, masks, ceramics, furniture, textiles, and beadwork. These works are primarily from west and central Africa, with smaller holdings from north, east and southern Africa.
American Collection:
The collection of American Art includes more than 1,000 paintings and sculptures from the 18th century to 1950. It also holds nearly 2,500 decorative art objects. The department holds also notable pieces of furniture and silver from the colonial period. The Art Institute of Chicago exhibits important paintings by Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, and truly iconic works by Georgia O'Keeffe, Grant Wood, and Edward Hopper. The department also contains notable work by some of the famous Mexican artists.
Asian Collection:
The Art Institute of Chicago’s Asian collection consist works spanning nearly five millennia from China, Korea, Japan, India, southwest Asia, and the near and Middle East. It includes 35,000 objects of great archaeological and artistic significance. The Asian collection of Art Institute of Chicago includes
