Painted Elephants

Elephants are mammals and the largest land animals to walk the earth at present. Painted elephant toys are very popular among children. Many children make it a hobby of collecting toy elephants. Elephant toys became very popular during the Victorian era and the trend continued till the 1950s. Many elephant toys are made of clay or terracotta and then painted to make them resemble real elephants. The most common painted elephant is the pull out elephant. The pulls out elephants are usually placed on wheels and have an attached string to pull them along. Other painted elephants may be stuffed or have whistles inside them which emit high pitched noises. Painted clay elephants may be made with detachable legs or ears. At times they are connected with springs so that the ears can be wriggled. Many painted elephant toys can be wound up so that they move or swish their tails.
