Blessing of Sun-Madhubani Painting
Dimensions : 22 x 15 Inches
This is an exquisite example of the traditional Indian folk art of Madhubani Painting. Executed on handmade paper is the impression of the Sun God with all his vitality and power. The Sun God is not only the center of the Universe, but also the harbinger of fortune and fertility. The figure of the deity has been characteristically painted in the center of the canvas, with floral decorations around it. Double lines have been used as borders with small linear decorations in between. Two pairs of amorous bees signifying love, passion and fecundity are also seen on each side of the deity.
Abundant use of yellow, red and orange, the colors of the sun and also of passion and productivity, complements the motif of the Sun God. The lush green hue is the symbol of youth and bloom. The figures, colors and dense designs harmoniously produce an effect of life force and fertility.
