Crossed Leather Sandals

Rawhide: In this process, the skin of the animal is scraped thin, soaked in lime and stretched while it dries. This type of leather is used in drumheads.

Boiled leather: The hide product is hardened by being immersed in hot water and traditionally has been used for armor and bookbinding.

Chrome-tanned leather: Here, chromium sulfate is used to tan the leather. It is supple, and allows colors in chrome tanning.
