Handicrafts Fair
Suraj Kund handicrafts fair has been showcasing Indian arts, crafts, culture and tradition, for the past 20 years at Suraj Kund, Haryana, 8 Kms from South Delhi. Huge welcome gates commemorating the different Indian states adorn the entrances. Maharashtra is the theme state this year. In a distinctly rural ambience, the award winning artisans and craftsmen display traditional Indian handcrafted items. Indian classical, Folk and tribal music, dance, acrobatics, mimicry and a galore of food await you at the fair ground.
The fair fosters Indian art and crafts, and nurtures national integration as every State gets an opportunity to showcase its rich art, culture and food habits.
This year's Surajkund Crafts Mela has a distinct international flavour with craftpersons from other SAARC countries participating in the event for the first time.
The Surajkund Crafts Mela is hosted by the Surajkund Mela Authority comprising the Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles and Haryana Tourism every year from February 1-15. A colorful Rangoli (patterns made by sprinkling colors) welcomes the visitors.
