Welcome to Surajkund Handicraft Fair 2006

Suraj Kund Mela is an annual celebration of Indian arts, crafts, culture and tradition, held for the past 20 years at Suraj Kund, Haryana, 8 Kms from South Delhi. Set in a typical Indian rural ambience, created by the mud huts, thatched platforms, wooden lamp posts, string cots, little streams and the uneven territory, are the small thatched stores displaying handcrafted items from all over the country. Each year, one Indian state is in focus and this year it is Maharashtra.

Along with a display of handcrafted and handloom products, the fair also showcases the different classical, tribal and folk art forms of the Indian subcontinent. Through its cultural extravaganza, the fair fosters national integration. More than 350 artisans and weavers selected from across the country are showcasing the country's rich heritage. This year's Surajkund Crafts Mela will also have a distinct international flavour with craftpersons from other South Asian countries participating in the event for the first time.
